Guidelines for Students to go up to the Smartboard

I think it is important to communicate your expectations often when dealing with the Smartboard.  That is why I made a Smartboard Slide with all my expectation on it.  I always give this at the begining of the year, and often at times throughout the year.  It is a good reminder about how to treat each other with respect while working together as a class to accomplish a goal.  Here is how I set it up.

1.  Have the students work in pairs.

2.  Have the person who is closest to the door be the reader.

3.  Display the “Guidelines for Students to go up to the Smartboard” for the class to read.

4.  Have each pair of students discuss items that caught their attention.

5.  Call on a few students one at a time in a random fashion to share their thoughts.

6.  Open the discussion up to anyone else who would like to contribute.

Be respectful to others when they are at the board. We will not laugh at mistakes, or make fun of someone for any reason. Remember you will be up there soon.

You always must justify your answer

You may bring a person up to the board to help you.

If you are not sure what to do, you still must come up to the board, however, you may ask for help from someone who has their hand raised to walk you through the problem.

You will be picked at random to go to the board so be ready at all times with your answer.

You may change what someone else has done at the board. You must justify why you changed it.
